History of Beverly Hills.
Originally planned to be a subdivision, the land Rodeo Drive now occupies was purchased in 1906 by a group of land development investors led by Burton E. Green. Entitling their land development company the Rodeo Land and Water Company, the main street of the project was designated as Rodeo Drive. The shopping and business district that we know and identify as “Rodeo Drive” sprouted up in the 1970s, led by the famed Giorgio of Beverly Hills boutique.
